Sonia reprimands Congress MPs from Telangana

Congress MPs from Telangana were reportedly reprimanded by AICC president Sonia Gandhi for raising slogans in Lok Sabha demanding a separate Telangana State.
On the first day of the monsoon session of the Parliament on Wednesday, the Lok Sabha members from Telangana were on their feet as soon as the House assembled raising slogans in support of the statehood issue.
Six MPs from the region – Ponnam Prabhakar, Manda Jagannath, G.Vivekananda, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and S. Rajaiah – joined the protest along with other Opposition members, who raised the issue of failure of law and order machinery during riots in Assam.
Amid the protest, the Speaker adjourned the House till 2 p.m. Ms. Gandhi who was sitting inside the House summoned the agitating MPs and made known her displeasure.
Sources said she sought to know why the Congress MPs from Telangana were raising slogans and disrupting the House. “When we are aware of the demand for separate statehood, why do you want to embarrass the party by such actions?” she was quoted as telling the MPs.
An MP, on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Ms. Gandhi was not pleased by their actions.
