Nagam meets Rajnath, may join BJP soon
Triggering speculations that he might finally join the BJP, Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Thursday met BJP national president Rajnath Singh in Delhi. While Nagam himself chose to remain mum on his future political moves, sources said that he may be fielded as the BJP candidate from Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha seat currently held by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Later speaking to reporters, Nagam said he met Rajnath Singh to demand that the BJP raise the Telangana issue in the ongoing Parliament session. "The BJP is committed to the cause of Telangana. I wanted to remind the leaders of that party of their duty on Telangana and met Rajnath Singh to request that his party must raise the issue in Parliament. His response was positive," said Nagam.
Responding to a query on the possibility of him joining BJP, Nagam said he would take a decision after consulting his voters in Mahbubnagar district. "I am yet to decide whether to join BJP or to be a part of NDA by remaining independent. I will consult my voters and take a decision," he said.
However, G Kishan Reddy, BJP state president, who accompanied Nagam in the meeting with Rajnath Singh, said the veteran would join BJP and he would be his party's candidate from Mahbubnagar parliament constituency. "I think Nagam would join BJP shortly, and he would be our parliamentary candidate from Mahbubnagar," said Kishan Reddy
