TJAC’s two-day protest in Delhi

The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) is all set to organise Sansad Yatra, a two-day protest demonstration, at Parliament in Delhi.

Nearly 1,500 members of TJAC and those supporting the cause of Telangana are expected to gather at Jantar Mantar at 11 am on April 29 and stage a demonstration till 4 pm and gather again at 10 am at the same place on the following day.

Unlike during the past programmes which were sponsored by one political party or the other, this time all the participants would go to Delhi by train or bus en masse, on Sansad Yatra, on their own. Right from booking tickets to making accommodation arrangements, they will bear their expenses.

The TJAC has approached like-minded national parties to support its Sansad Yatra, whose main objective is to bring pressure on the Congress leadership to concede the demand for statehood for the Telangana region.

‘’We have approached BJP, CPI, RJD, RLD, NCP and BSP leaders and they have assured us of their support. TRS leaders including K Chandrashekar Rao will also participate in the protest,’’ TJAC chairman M Kodandaram told Express.

He said that it was the last chance for the Congress to redeem itself by setting the ball in motion for creation of Telangana state. ‘’It made a promise and it is time it kept it. Sansad Yatra is to bring pressure on them to concede the demand of crores of Telangana people. Already, 1,000 youths have sacrificed their lives for the cause and the Congress and UPA governments are responsible for the deaths,’’ he said.
